| So... now that it has been something like four months since I've updated, I should probably write a note to tell everyone where I am and what I'm doing. I'm afraid that Facebook has replaced Xanga for me (because I don't have to write anything on Facebook). My first semester of my senior year at Frontier finished up early in May. It was a good semester and I had a lot of fun but I am going to miss my senior class that graduated. Since I am one of those wierd mid-semester people, I still have one semester left before I graduate. Many people have been asking me what I am going to do when I graduate in December so I will give you an honest answer... I don't know. What kind of question is that anyway? I hate that question... Anyhoo, after school ended I came back home here to Provo where I am spending my summer. I got my old job (finish carpentry) back and have been working for a couple of weeks now. The work is rather monotonous but that's life. I have also been doing an unofficial internship with my pastor, Josh Harding. This is fun and rewarding and it is helping me to look forward to being in ministry myself. Being in Utah itself is great. The weather is beautiful and the mountains are gorgeous! However, I do miss Wyoming everytime I get stuck in traffic (which is almost every day). I'm looking forward to doing some fishing and camping with my friends and family later in the summer. Unfortunately I won't be able to spend any time at Pioneer Bible Camp this summer because of work but I will be at Grace Haven for a week so I'll see some of you there. Welp... I can't really think of anything else to say, especially since I have been rambling on about nothing anyway, so I'll just post a few pics from the last part of school.
This is Stearns, Robbie, Twiest, and me and banquet. I really miss those guys.
Here is all of us RAs and interns at the RA Retreat at a hunting lodge nearby Glendoe. That place was pretty much amazing and we had a really awesome time.
haha... this is me and Robbie doing our "look"
Here is Tif and Aims and David Beckham. I still can't believe they put a poster of him up on their wall!!! That is so sick... lol.
And here's a finally picture of Robbie, me, and Twiest doing our "look". I really like that look. It worked pretty well for us... kinda... not. Actually it was kinda an inside joke, we just started doing it one day and got a bunch of strange looks from the girls at school so we kept on doing it for reasons beyond my comprehension. Welp, thats pretty much whats been goin on for me. I'll talk to ya'll later! Josh Bar
| Hey Everybody, I bet you're all wondering what I'm doing writing a blog since it hasn't been that long since I wrote my last one. Well, I had a few minutes so I figured I'd write one. Not much new is really happening. I preached last Sunday and I'm preaching again this Sunday so that keeps me kinda busy. I started a series on Nehemiah which is something I've never done before and its a fun new challenge. The weather has been nicer as of late so thats been fun. I've started playing on our second rate basketball team (as opposed to the YMCA team) and that is going pretty good... well, as good as losing the only two games that we've played can go. We stink, but its fun so its all good. We lost the first by somethin like 30 or 40 points (it was a lot, thats all I remember). The second we only lost by 5 and it was close the whole time so that helps. Who knows, we may actually win one some day. I went down to Denver with Dustin today. It was supposed to be a really quick trip but we kinda got stuck in traffic so it didn't go so quick. Yesterday he bought a 2000 Honda Civic EX coupe at the auction. Its just like my parent's except its got a spoiler, a sunroof, and its only a two-door. He had driven that up last night and left his truck down there so we went down and picked up his truck again today. I drove the Civic on the way back up. I must confess, I like my Prelude a lot better even though it is ten years older. The Civic is nice, but there's a lot of things about my car that are much nicer. I like a manual transmission for one thing; the automatic frustrated me after driving a manual for so long. I had a couple of times where I would be coming up to a stop and I would start freaking out cuz I couldn't find the clutch and there was no shifter and then I would remember it was an automatic and I would feel stupid. The tranny in the Civic also would be slow to downshift and it took a lot longer to accelerate which made things more difficult in traffic. I thought my car handled a lot better and was a lot faster too. The only two things that the Civic had that was better than my car was the interior room and the fuel economy. Driving the Civic made me very happy with my little lude. I'm really blessed to have that car and its gonna be a sad day when it dies (IF it ever does). You know how they have that saying "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." Well in the case of my car it would be somethin like "A quart of oil a day keeps the mechanic away." Welp, I'm gonna go find something productive to do so I'll talk to ya'll later. Josh | | |
| So... now that its been another month since I updated. A lot has happened since the last time but at the same time not a lot has happened (if that makes any sense). Sarah, Chad, and Naomi came after Christmas and since all my job opportunities kinda fell through in various ways, I was able to spend a lot of time with them. Naomi is absolutely adorable and was so much fun to have around. She is a high strung little bugger though, just like her mother. It was a really great time, however, it was cut short by the fact that another storm was coming across Utah and Wyoming so I had to come back to school a little early. I hadn't seen so much snow in Utah in a really long time and when I got back here in Wyoming there was tons more snow. We've gotten several storms since I got back too. For a while the high was about 0. The power steering fluid on my car has frozen up and blown its lid at least three times since I got back. Not much is new here cuz its really just another semester. I'm officially a senior which is kinda cool and I love my classes. The longer you're at Bible school, the better they seem to get. Frontier has been invited to put together a team to play in the Eastern Wyoming College intramural basketball league and they're gonna let me play on it so I'm pretty excited about that. It'll be a lot of work cuz I'm not playin so well right now but it will also be a lot of fun. I actually just got back from going to the Morrill Diner with our sister section and then I watched our regular good team (they didn't look so good tonight though) play in the YMCA league. The team that I will hopefully be playing on will be made up of the guys who aren't as good as the regular team. I had to coolest thing happen today when I was talking with Sarah on the phone. She put the phone up to Naomi's ear to get her to talk to me and she said my name for the first time. It was kinda funny cuz she doesn't say a lot of words yet so all I could hear was gibberish and then "Unca Jos!!!" and then more gibberish but that just made my day. I love the little bugger so much, but I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to see her for a long time. She's so cute though, I miss her tons. Here's one of the pictures that I got of her when I was back.
Anyway, thats pretty much all thats been happening in my life. I'll talk to ya'll later. Josh
| Well, lets see, its been forever since I've updated... there's relaxing music on the radio... I don't want to go to bed... and I have nothing else to do... so I think I'll write somethin. So, I had an awesome Christmas. I got off work after only a half day on Thursday cuz we ran out of work, but my amazing awesome boss, Chad, decided he was going to pay us for the full week (plus he gave me this raise/bonus thing) and he let us off for the rest of the week. Unfortunately, cuz we don't got much in the way of work, I don't know if I'm gonna be able to work any more before I go back to school, but thats in God's hands. So my cousin Justin and his wife Heather came to our house for Christmas which was so totally awesome and Karissa, my parents sorta intern was there too, (that wasn't as cool though cuz she was supposed to go home and the blizzard in CO made that kinda impossible so we felt really bad for her but it was totally awesome that she got to join us too). That made Christmas really incredibly fun. We also watched this crazy cool movie called, "Let the Church Say Amen". It was this documentary about a church that was starting in the really nasty area of downtown Washington DC. I didn't necessarily agree with everything in it, but it was still really good. The slaying in the Spirit and the dancing around screaming and that kinda stuff was a little on the wierd side. The thing that really touched me was how one of the recovering drug addicts in the movie dreamed of having a little house for his family with a little yard and a tree. Over and over again he talked about how he dreamed of having this tree and it just really struck me how simple of a dream it was and yet how much it meant to him to have that. For us something so commonplace like trees is easy to forget about, but when you see that being such an amazing dream to someone then you realized just how blessed we are... even if there aren't many trees in Lagrange anyway... but thats beside the point. Anyway, I thought it was a really cool movie. It was one that came from the Sundance Film Festival which is not far from where I live here in Utah. So yeah... here's some pics I've gotten over the break. This is me and my cousin Justin or Gorteous as we also call him. I only wish I had hair like this... actually maybe I should say I only wish I STILL had hair like this... it used to be pretty close.
Ya, that was cool. These next ones are of the area I live in here in Utah. Utah is so amazingly beautiful, there's no place like it on earth. We've just gotten a ton more snow than I'm used to (over a foot! so... thats a lot for us... stop laughing) so its really pretty and white around here right now.

Well, there they are... not so incredibly impressive in these little pics but its so amazing when you see it in real life. I hope you all had a great Christmas and I hope you all will have a great New Years. See ya'll later. Josh PS My niece is comin on January 3 so I'm gonna be showering you guys with pictures then.
| Hey Everybody, I had a really fun night tonight. I had a really stressful day with a lot of stuff. I've been tired, ornery, and ready for the stress of school to be over with for a month. So, tonight the guy RAs all took Mr. Huseby out for dinner at the Texas Roadhouse. It was a really great time that helped me relax a lot. Its cool cuz we talk about how we are kind of given a mini-pastorate with a 8 person congregation when we become RAs. In that sense, we are subject to a little taste of what the pastor gets, except with no breaks (especially since we live with them). Its not that I don't love my guys, its just you need to be off by yourself with other guys in your position sometimes. So it was great to just be with the other guy RAs and Mr. Huseby and hang out for a while and not have to worry about things. So it was a really awesome time. Here's a pic of Bryan who is now our tallest member of our basketball team. Yeah, can't take him anywhere cuz he's so tall.
And... for some odd reason its always Mr. Huseby's birthday when we go to the Roadhouse. We didn't even tell the waiter this time...
Yep, so that was cool. Talk to ya'll later. Josh
